Perfume Collector April 29, 2006

On my trip to Romania, home of Vlad the Impaler, I wrote this down in my travel journal.

One can never have too many perfumes. Or perfume bottles. No, it doesn't really matter if you use up all of them, or if you ever get to finish any of them. Point is, like shoes for some, bags, caps, and clothes for others, I have come to realize that I have become, in essence (no pun intended) a perfume collector.

However, this was by chance and not by choice. Id have rather spend the money on my (fairly new) addiction, Juicy charms ;)

For years I have kept to two solid brands, and use the occasional spray of some anonymous bottle I'd find lying about the house. The two brands are Angel by Thierry Mugler, and Agent Provocateur by Agent Provocateur. An exception to the rule of two, is the limited edition Thierry Mugler Le Lys Angel by Thierry Mugler, which is a twist on the original Angel scent, with incorporated essence of lily. My perfume "collection" were mostly received as birthday gifts, gifts received for a dinner thrown, and gifts given to my mother (who then passed it on to me – she herself having stuck to only one brand – Opium), and just gifts in general. Other reasons for having collected (a few reasonable and unreasonable) perfumes other than my three favorite ones was packaging, advertising (plain old scratch and sniff ads in magazines), blatant curiosity, and/or the pull of the free gifts deal (as was the case of my most recent DKNY Be Delicious perfume which came with free 15ml purse spray, and lip balm/gloss).

If I was lucky I would receive/buy a perfume that suited me, and if not then too bad. Well too bad for me as it would have been rude to re-gift that opened gift and then give it away, though not to bad for my close friends and relatives, as they were more than welcomed to take them.

On my return back from the trip, I had time to sit and write down All the perfume bottles I could see on my dresser, and then some. Why this list has come about? Simple, when Stefan (who I hadnt seen for a year, and who came down for the week for a visit) asked with a very confused look on his face, why I needed yet another bottle of perfume (I asked him to get me Agent Provocateur as I had run out) when I had over a hundred of them on my makeup station.

Simple, because I love Angel and Agent Provocateur, and the rest are just eye candy ;) So after the trip, we sat and talked and decided that I (in his words) simply have to catalog this tremendous waste of glass and foul smelling liquid, so that future generations, and friends will know never to buy you [me] anything other than Angel and Agent Provocateur. Smart man that he is, Im taking that advise and posting this on all my blogs ;) Therefore friends and foe, here is the list of (almost) every single bottle of perfume I currently have.

My Perfume Collection to Date :

Angel by Thierry Mugler (My All Time Favorite – 4 bottles and counting)

Thierry Mugler Le Lys Angel by Thierry Mugler (My All Time Favorite)

Agent Provocateur by Agent Provocateur (My All Time Favorite – 2nd bottle and counting)

Lolita Lempicka by Lolita Lempicka (I love this – 4 bottles and counting)

Prada by Prada (I love this)

Allure by Chanel (I love this)

No 5 by Chanel (I love this)

Ocean Dream by Giorgio Beverly Hills (I love this)

Relaxing Fragrance by Shiseido for Women (Bought it, liked it)

CK One by Clevin Klein (Bought due to Scratch and Sniff ad)

Lovely by Sarah Jessica Parker (Blatantly Curious Buy)

Be Delicious by DKNY (Blatantly Curious Buy it came with 2 fleee gifts!)

Envy by Gucci (Blatantly Curious Buy)

Envy Me by Gucci (Gift)

Baby Doll by Yves Saint Laurent (Gift – 2 bottles and counting)

Addict by Christian Dior (Gift)

Pleasures by Estee Lauder (Gift)

Premier Jour by Nina Ricci (Gift)

HappyClinque (Gift)

Ruby Lips by Salvador Dali (Gift)

Miracle so Magic by Lancome (Gift)

Lesson learnt? Nope. All I know is that I don't need any more perfume for a good few years. Might I be purchasing any more perfumes in the future and add onto my continuously growing collection? You're darn sure I might.

Lolita Lempicka have just come out with a new bottle – a gorgeous blue, but I have no clue about the fragrance, yet if its anything like the original, I'm in. Ooohhh and Benefit's Maybe Baby is stunning, which means I most probably will pick it up soon when I hit the shops in New York…

1 Cup Baking Soda
3 Drops of Lavender Oil
2 Drops of Rosemary Oil
2 Drops of Tea Tree Oil
Small fistfull of orange rind

Mix the Salt and Baking Soda together in a bowl, then add in the oils and lastly the orange rind. Throw into a tub of warm water then soak thy Bombshell self immedietly.
